I was previously training at another Jiu Jitsu school but I started to become unsatisfied with my results. Low intensity workouts, little to no students, and nobody wanted to compete. I was also unsatisfied about my weight.
In November, I attended WLC (Warrior Leader Course) in order to be up for promotion (to Sergeant). I am in the Maryland Army National Guard. I weighed in at around 180 lbs. A month later, my brother informed me that he has been training at Crazy 88 BJJ; he suggested that I check it out. I signed up shortly after attending the orientation.
I always get a good workout whenever I come to class, a lot of the students actively compete or have competed, and everybody seems to get along with one another. At my previous school, there was a lot of ego. That was also one of the reasons why I was becoming unsatisfied. At Crazy 88, you’re motivated to test yourself by competing in BJJ tournaments. I competed in my first tournament in January and weighed in at 158. I must say that my first tournament is only the first of many.
